The Maple Leafs and Senators square off in the first rendition of this year’s Battle of Ontario when they meet at the ACC on Saturday night.
The Senators got a late start to their 2013-14 regular season as they debuted last night against the Buffalo Sabres and now have to make a quick turnaround as they clash against the Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. Ottawa rode another strong outing from Craig Anderson en route a 1-0 victory over Buffalo at the First Niagara Centre and they’ll look for a repeat effort against the hated Maple Leafs in what should be a very exciting matchup. The Sens have a strong team but are relatively thin beyonf their top 3 or 4 playmakers at both ends of the ice and against a Leafs team who is significantly deeper up front they might be in tough. Craig Anderson is slated to start once again for Ottawa while the goaltending controversy in Toronto heats up but we’re likely to see James Reimer.

The Leafs have opened the season with back to back victories as they upended the Canadiens in Montreal in their season opener and followed that up with a road win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. Toronto has yet to play at home and tonight you can expect the Air Canada Centre to be rocking as Leafs Nation gets their first look and the boys in blue. Dave Bolland made quite the impression in just his second game with the Buds as he netted two goals and the offensive depth of the Leafs is going to be a strength of theirs all season. This game is shaping up to be one of the best on a jam packed schedule and while these games are always tough to call I have to side with the home team here as I think they catch the Sens in a good spot after a tough victory last night and with it being the home opener for the Leafs I think they send the crowd home happy.
