The Predators and Wild meet up in Nashville as both teams look for their first victory of the season after two losses last week.
The Wild were one of the league’s bigger disappointments last season and through two games so far this season they have yet to record a victory, although both losses came in overtime which is good enough for two points. Minny is led up front by Zach Parise, Mikko Koivu, and Dany Heatley who will be called upon to carry most of the offensive work load and those are three very talented players who any team would love to have. The Wild are anchored on the blue line by former Predators defenseman Ryan Suter and goaltender Josh Harding who gets the nod here tonight with Niklas Backstrom serving as a backup. Minnesota is a very talented team and one I expect to be right in the mix come playoff team but until they can start winning they’ll continue to be undervalued and that’s where we have to jump on board in order to cash in with them. They head into Nashville to take on a struggling Predators team and should be able to dictate the pace of the game with their physical play.

The Predators were one of the sintgiest teams in the league a few years ago as they have a rock solid blue line, one of the best goalies in the league, and a well balanced offensive attack, and while some of those pieces are still intact, they don’t have the same edge and attitude as they did once before. After Ryan Suter fled for Minnesota it seemed to deflate the entire Predators blue line and as such the team and goaltender Pekka Rinne seem to have lost their confidence, at least in the early part of this season. While those numbers will surely head back to respectability it is tough to back Nashville right now as they can’t seem to score or keep the puck out of the net and usually in hockey that means you’re not going to get too many wins. While I expect Rinne will bounce back I think Suter and the Wild get the better of Nashville here and I love the Wild in this spot.
