The Line: St. Louis Blues -121 / Chicago Blackhawks +110 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds

Two of the league’s best teams clash in St. Louis on Wednesday night as the Blues host the defending Stanley Cup champions from Chicago.

The Blackhawks picked up right where they left off from a season ago as they have earned points in both of their contests thus far despite losing in overtime in their last contest and they’ll look to take down the Blues who have won both of their games so far this season. Chicago lost bits and pieces from their Stanley Cup winning team, much like they did when they hoisted the trophy three years ago but they retained the nucleus which is very important and now they can build towards hoisting the trophy once again this season. Chicago will be a very tough team to spot at home as per usual but they’re also a very good road team and against the Blues here where they have a lot of history and animosity from their days as Central division rivals they’ll be aiming to play their best. Corey Crawford is likely to get the start against Jaroslav Halak of the Blues.

Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

St. Louis was one of the darkhorse teams in the league last season as they have a number of talented pieces but lack the superstar power and ultimately that cost them in last year’s playoffs as they bowed out in the first round to the Kings. However, with another offseason under their belts and a clear path at least for the time being on who their starting net minder will be the Blues look like they’re in for a very nice season and will be very tough to be each and every night this season. St. Louis has won both contests thus far and sit atop the division when they welcome the Blackhawks and in what should be a very hard fought contest the Blues will be full of confidence in what is easily their toughest challenge to date. In a game that will be determined and won by defense I think the Blues have a bit of an advantage as they’re younger and have more team speed and in what is a toss up I’ll side with the home team and the better goalie.
