The San Jose Sharks look to continue their early season dominance as they head to Rogers Arena to take on the Canucks.
The Sharks have been ripping it up to start the season for the second consecutive year and after blazing through the Rangers in their last outing they head north to take on the Canucks in one of the marquee games on the card. San Jose is led by the veteran presence of Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton but it has been the play of rookie sensation Tomas Hertl that has stolen the headlines as he six markers through four games are incredible and his highlight reel marker against the Rangers is creaintg a lot of buzz. Much of the Sharks’ success in the offensive zone has come largely due to the fact that they are throwing so many shots on goal and are averaging 28 more shots on goal per game than their opponents which is video game type numbers and is a rarity in this NHL. Antii Niemi continues to be solid for the Sharks and he has been a nightmare for the Canucks over the past few seasons and I can see that trend continuing here.

Vancouver continues to be a team to reckon with in the Western Conference as they continuously find ways to stay competitive and their last contest against the Devils showed off their heart and resiliency. In what was a showdown between former goaltender Corey Schneider and current goaltender Roberto Luongo and the rest of Canucks management they battled back after being down early and rallied for the victory in what was a big victory for the franchise and their administration. However, I am worried that this will be a bit of a let down spot for the Canucks despite having a day off as I think Tuesday night’s game was circled by many and with the way the Sharks are playing you can’t give them any wiggle room whatsoever. I like the Sharks here as a road dog and I think they get the best of a Canucks who had to battle hard for their last win.
