The Dallas Stars look for their second win in as many nights as they’re coming off a 4-1 victory in Winnipeg and now travel to Minnesota to take on the Wild.
The Stars underwent some changes in the offseason as they brought in former second overall selection Tyler Seguin from the Boston Bruins who is certainly going to be engrained in the long term plans in Frisco, Texas and so far the Stars have looked pretty good. Dallas has had a pretty light schedule thus far as they’ve played just three games but they have made good on two of them and will look to continue their ascent up the standings with another key road win against the Wild. Dallas will go with Dan Ellis between the pipes tonight as the serviceable backup gives Kari Lehtonen the night off and he’ll be out to prove he is worth a look as a starter this season.

Minnesota finally got in the win column after a couple of tough losses had their spirits down but a hard fought win over the Jets in Minnesota on Thursday night gives the Wild a bit of a boost as they prepare to host the Stars on Saturday. The Wild are a very solid team defensively led by Ryan Suter who is a shoe in once again for Norris consideration and if they can generate some opportunities in the transition game or on special teams than Minnesota will be a tough team to stop as they just don’t concede very many goals. While both teams have a great shot to win this one I really like the total in this one as it is a border line premium play as the Wild are a very stingy defensive team, both clubs have trouble scoring, the Stars are in a back to back and will play tight to the vest, and Josh Harding is a very solid netminder for Minnesota. I see this being a 2-1 type of game at best and I suggest hammering the under in this contest.
