Bobby Ryan makes his return to the Honda Center on Sunday night as the Senators look to pick up a win against the Anaheim Ducks. It has been an unsuccessful road trip to this point for the Senators and you know they'll want to get a win for more reasons than one in this game. Ryan scored his second goal of the season on the power play in Saturday night's game against the San Jose Sharks but it wasn't enough as the Senators fell by a final of 3-2. Zack Smith also scored to give Ottawa two first period goals but they weren't able to get anything else past Antti Niemi over the final 40 minutes. They were outshot 50-23 in the hockey game with the Sharks having more shots on goal in the third period than the Senators had in the entire game. Robin Lehner did everything he could in net to keep his team in the game but it just wasn't enough against the high powered San Jose offense. It won't be easy for Craig Anderson on Sunday night against a very difficult Ducks club.
All the talk about the Senators acquiring Ryan this offseason and very little about the fact that Anaheim acquired a very talented piece in return themselves. Jakob Silfverberg went from Ottawa to the Ducks and has gotten off to a great start in southern California. He scored his third and fourth goals of the season on Thursday night when Anaheim routed the New York Rangers by a score of 6-0. Silfverberg has great skill and a great work ethic and now he's in a very good environment where he's going to be given a lot of opportunity to succeed. Anaheim has been off since that game on Thursday night and after a weak performance on opening night this team has really picked up their game. This could be another tough spot for the Senators on Sunday night.
