Last night was pretty tame in the NHL, with just two games on the evening set. Things will pick back up again in a big way tonight, as we’ve got a whopping 12 matchups to look forward to. While we’re waiting on those pucks to drop, let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy players out there who are making headlines right now. Here’s the latest.

Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers: We’ll be the first to admit: we didn’t expect the Rangers to do much against the Capitals last night--much less post a shutout--but they proved us wrong. Lundqvist was on point, stopping all 22 shots he faced in the 2-0 victory. Brad Richards (two assists) and Ryan Callahan (goal) helped out on the offensive end.
As for Lundqvist, he’s had a very uneven year so far. In his three losses, he’s allowed 14 goals. In his pair of wins, he’s allowed just one. This road trip is beginning to wind down--there are three more games, starting Saturday in New Jersey.

Ryan Getzlaf, C, Anaheim Ducks: We haven’t checked in on Getzlaf yet this year, but it’s high time we did. He notched another assist last night in a 3-2 victory over Calgary, which gives him three helpers to go along with his two goals this season. Also of note in this one was the Ducks’ Teemu Selanne, who posted his first score of the year and No. 676 in his career.
The 5-1-0 Ducks have a reasonably busy week ahead: tomorrow they’ll be at home against Phoenix, then host Dallas before setting off on a lengthy road trip that begins next week.

Injury Update: While we’ve got a bit of a breather thanks to the rather light schedule last night, let’s take a quick look at a few of the noteworthy injury issues around the league. Here’s a rundown.

Kari Lehtonen, G, Dallas Stars: Lower body--likely a groin issue; placed on injured reserve this week; may still return Saturday.
Jake Muzzin, D, Los Angeles Kings: Lower body; reportedly a mild knee sprain; not considered serious.
Max Pacioretty, LW, Montreal Canadiens: Lower body; injured during Tuesday’s game. Appears to be related to the left leg.
Ryane Clowe, RW, New Jersey Devils: Head; placed on injured reserve list yesterday. Will stay off skates for at least a couple of days.

NHL Daily Schedule: Tonight will be a busy one. There are 12 matchups ahead in the coming hours, so hockey fans will have their hands full. Here’s a look at the full schedule, as well as the times and TV stations you can catch the games on.
