The Ottawa Senators finally got to play a game on home ice on Thursday night and they didn't disappoint the home crowd as they jumped out quickly on the New Jersey Devils and never looked back. Ottawa scored twice in the opening period and had a 3-0 lead in the third before the Devils made it interesting with a couple of goals. The Senators were able to stabilize and went on to a 5-2 victory to send the crowd home happy on opening night. They'll have a chance to pick up another win against an Edmonton Oilers club that's really struggling right now. The Oilers are 1-6-1 after Thursday night's 3-2 loss to the New York Islanders that wasn't as close as the score makes it seem. Taylor Hall scored twice in eight seconds but other than that this one was pretty much all New York. There's rumors of some major shakeups coming in Edmonton as they look to acquire a goaltender and former No. 1 pick Nail Yakupov is in the doghouse. Taking on a good Senators club doesn't seem like what they need right now in Edmonton.
