The Capitals complete their Western Canada road trip looking for a win in Vancouver while the Canucks return home looking for their fourth straight win.
The Capitals have been a funny team to watch this season as they seem to be incredibly competitive in every game they play but don’t have the results to show for it and seem to have difficulties putting games away. They head into Vancouver after losing comfortably in Calgary and while the Flames are playing well the Canucks are definitely a step up in terms of competition. Alex Ovechkin looks to continue his hot start to the year but if the Caps are going to get back to the postseason they need to find a way to get more secondary offensive production which has always been the team’s downfall. Braden Holtby gets the call for the Caps while Roberto Luongo will go for the Canucks in what Is an audition of sorts between two Team Canada hopefuls in Sochi.

The Canucks are starting to turn things up as John Tortorella’s bunch is moving past a sluggish start and now look like the Canucks of old as they have ripped off three straight wins and will be looking for more at home. The Sedin’s find themselves in familiar territory back atop the NHL point standings which isn’t too big of a surprise based on talent but preseason remarks concerning their role as defenders increasing this year makes the feat that much more impressive. The Canucks are big favourites in this spot and while Ovechkin is a dynamic talent that could very well win this game on his own I expect a solid outing from Luongo as he goes toe to toe with Holtby and I give the edge to the home team in this spot and may even lay the puck line.
