The Toronto Maple Leafs continues their Western Canada road swing in Vancouver on Saturday night as both teams look for a huge victory.
The Leafs have been the class of the Eastern Conference so far this season as they have ripped off three straight victories and are 10-4 on the year putting them into a tie with the Penguins for top spot. Toronto has a very well balanced lineup and it all starts in the crease in what is becoming a very intriguing battle for playing time between Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer. The former has had more starts but the latter has played just as well and is coming off a brilliant effort in his last outing so decisions will have to be made as the season progresses. Phil Kessel, Nazem Kadri, and James van Riemsdyk have been sensational on this road trip as they absolutely lit it up against the Oilers and Flames and they’ll have to be on point once again here against the Canucks.

Vancouver has reason to celebrate as they just locked up their two best players in Henrik and Daniel Sedin to another four years at what many are calling a bargain at four years, 28 million dollars. The Canucks are 9-5-1 on the year but in the ridiculous Pacific division that only good enough for fourth place as the Sharks, Ducks, and Coyotes all sit ahead of Vancouver through the first stretch of the season. Roberto Luongo gets the call in goal for the Canucks as he is likely to face off against Jonathan Bernier though that still remains to be seen but either way we are in for a great goaltending battle. While the value is with the Leafs here and I have no idea why the line is the way that it is based on the way the Leafs have been playing of late but I do think ultimately the Canucks get the job done at home. Not a heavy play for me but will take my shot with Vancouver.
