The Tampa Bay Lightning head to the Motor City to square off with the Detroit Red Wings.
Tampa Bay has been quick out of the gate with a 4-2 victory over visiting Edmonton raising their record to 11-4. Big time offense and stellar work between the pipes was the key with Lightning attack riding a blistering hon Steven Stamkos. Stamkos lit the lamp twice to total 13 goals on the season and has now scored in five consecutive contests. Tyler Johnson and Valtteri Filppula added goals but the real story of the game was netminder Ben Bishop who stopped a whopping 38 shots to improve to 10-2. Bishop turned aside a pair of first period breakaways to keep his team from falling behind and was the star of the game with Tampa Bay getting out shot 40-26.

Detroit looks to bounce back from a 4-3 overtime defeat to visiting Dallas on Thursday that dropped them to 9-5-3. It was a painful defeat for the Wings who gave up a pair of third period goals with the equalizer scored on a 6-4 power play at th 18:50 mark. Rich Peverley sent the home crowd home with frowns with his tally at 4:41 of the extra session and Detroit was left looking at four straight defeats on home ice. Adam Almquist, Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi found the back of the net for Detroit while Henrik Zetterberg added three helpers. Jimmy Howard made 24 saves in absorbing the loss but was out dueled by Kari Lehtonen who recorded 26 stops.
Detroit won't continue to lose at home and that's a guarantee and asking Tampa Bay to continue their torid start is not realistic either. I will take a shot at the good odds with the Lightning but this is probably pushing the envelope...
