The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Scottrade Center to take the ice with the St Louis Blues Saturday.
St Louis remained red hot with a 3-2 victory over Calgary Thursday night at home. Overall the Blues have gone 6-1-1 in their last eight on home ice and have won five of six. The club has been rolling and part of that has been because Alexander Steen has been lighting the lamp as he scored once versus the Flames and has an NHL best 14 goals. Vladimir Tarasenko and Maxim Lapierre also tallied for the Blues who improved to 10-2-2 against a slumping Calgary who have dropped four of five. Brian Elliot picked up the victory with 18 stops to improve to 2-0-1 a Jaroslav Halak had the night off. It looked as if the Blues were going to win in a cake walk with a 3-0 lead before Mike Cammalleri and Tim Jackman beat Elliot in the final stanza to make the fans sweat.

Pittsburgh and their early season drive to the top of the division hit a bump in the road in the form of a 5-1 road loss to the New York Rangers on Wednesday. The Penguins offense and defense were no where to be found as Pitt fell to 11-5 on the season. The Rangers have really struggled versus Pittsburgh as losers in eight of the last nine match ups and this one didn't look appealing with the Pens riding a four game winning streak. The Rangers turned things in their favor rather quickly with a pair of goals in both the first and second periods with Pittsburgh's lone goal coming in the second on a power play tally off the stick of Kris Letang that cut the deficit to 3-1 before New York took control. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 28 shots in the win while Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 stops.
Pittsburgh is as good as it gets but in the early going St Louis has been even better so I'm riding a hot team at home...
