The Los Angeles Kings threw everything they had at Ryan Miller on Tuesday night but it wasn't enough. Miller made 43 saves on the night and even though the Kings outshot the Buffalo Sabres 45-17 they fell in a shootout by a score of 3-2. Even worse is that they lost star goaltender Jonathan Quick to a lower body injury. Quick's injury really sets the Kings back because their backup, Ben Scrivens, hasn't proven to be consistent in the NHL to this point. Quick returned to Los Angeles for treatment so he definitely won't be in goal on Thursday night and probably won't return for their other games this weekend. The Islanders are finally feeling better about themselvs after snapping their losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. The Islanders came out flying, playing like a team that knew they needed a better effort on home ice. That's the type of mentality they'll need to take into this game because even without Quick in goal the Kings are a dangerous hockey club. This is going to be a tough one for the Islanders but they can really gain some confidence if they can find a way in this one.
