NHL Daily Updates: Checking in on Zetterberg, current stats leaders, tonight's TV schedule and more
November 25, 2013
After just two games yesterday, the NHL schedule will be ramping up once again this evening. We’ve got nine games to look forward to in the coming hours, so while we’re waiting for those pucks to drop, let’s take a closer look at some of the news-making players out there on the ice. Here’s the latest.
Henrik Zetterberg, LW, Detroit Red Wings: Zetterberg extended his points streak to three games yesterday in a victory over the Sabres. He posted an assist in the third period on the eventual game-winning goal, as the Red Wings would take it 3-1. As for Zetterberg, he has 11 assists in his last nine games, and 18 on the year to go along with 10 goals.
Let’s look at Detroit’s week ahead. They’ll get a couple days off before the Bruins come to town on Wednesday. They’ll cap off the week with a Friday game in New York against the Islanders.

Eric Staal, C, Carolina Hurricanes: Staal has been on quite a roll lately. He ran his points streak to six games against the Senators yesterday, posting a goal and two assists in the 4-1 victory. During his streak, Staal has managed three scores and five helpers in all. Also of note in yesterday’s win was D Justin Faulk, who posted a pair of assists himself. He has eight on the year.
The Hurricanes have two games left on the schedule this week, and both are against the Devils. The home-and-home starts in New Jersey on Wednesday, then concludes on Friday on the Canes’ home ice.
NHL Statistical Leaders: With yesterday’s thin schedule, today is a good opportunity to check in on some of the key statistical categories around the league. No doubt we’ll see all sorts of changes before the year is up, but here’s how things are trending right now.
