The Sabres look to end an ugly four game slide as they host the Canadiens at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo on Wednesday night.
Buffalo is in the midst of a very tough first quarter of the NHL schedule in a whirlwind that has already seen the club move its star player, fire their head coach, and send their long tenured general manager packing. This is all a product of a disappointing season last year in which the new ownership group shelled out tons of cash in hopes of making an immediate splash in the standings. After the experiment went awry the direction changed immediately and now it is clear that the team is building for the future and you shouldn’t be surprised when they make more moves throughout the season. Buffalo sits in last place in the NHL standings with just five wins so far this season which has them in a firm position to land one of the top spots in the draft in June if they can’t turn things around and quick. Ryan Miller gets the call in the crease against Carey Price who responds for the visitors.

Montreal sustained a beat down in last year’s postseason losing in four games to the Ottawa Senators but so far this year the Canadiens have responded nicely and sit six points back of the Conference leading Bruins heading into action tonight. Montreal will look for its eighth win on the road tonight against a Sabres team who has won just two games out of 13 in Buffalo and has been badly beaten on a number of occasions. Carey Price gets the call here as the front runner for the Canadian Olympic gig continues to prove his worth as one of the best the game has to offer and he will look to continue his success away from the Bell Centre. While it seems like an obvious choice here I think Montreal is the only way you can go as they have the edge in almost every category and I think they prove they’re a contender with a nice win here.
