The loss of Jonathan Quick has done nothing to slow down the Los Angeles Kings this season. With the way Quick has played over the last few years and all the expectations placed on him in this Olympic year it would have been easy to expect a regression of sorts from the Kings in the wake of Quick's injury. Instead, Ben Scrivens has stepped right in and Los Angeles has yet to miss a beat. Scrivens is 6-1-3 on the year with a 1.44 goals against average and .947 save percntage. Monday night could actually be considered a disappointing performance for Scrivens based on how well he's played of late. Scrivens surrendered two goals to the Vancouver Canucks but Anze Kopitar scored the game winning goal in overtime and the Kings rallied for a 3-2 win. Mike Richards scored late in the third period to even the game at 2-2 before Kopitar won it 48 seconds into the extra session. Kyle Clifford gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead with his second goal of the season in the first period. Scrivens will get his biggest test thus far when he has to face the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night on the road. As good as Los Angeles' start to the season has been, San Jose's has been even better. The Sharks have won five of their last six games entering the contest and after allowing five goals in their loss to the Chicago Blackhawks last week they rebounded to hold Tampa Bay and New Jersey to one goal each. San Jose is starting the first of a three round heavyweight fight on Wednesday night as St. Louis and Anaheim both come to town as well on Friday and Saturday night. San Jose is a big time favorite in this one and while they should be favored it's hard to not like the value on Los Angeles in this one.
