The Bruins and Canadiens renew hostilities in Montreal on Thursday as the Original Six rivals who have a ton of history look to rewrite a new chapter at the Bell Center.
The Boston Bruins head into Montreal with a one point edge over their counterparts in the Atlantic division standings and will look to pad that lead in what should be a grudge match between two of the hottest teams in the league at the moment. Boston has won back to back games and have seven wins in their last 10 games overall but four of their losses this season have come on the road and the Bell Centre is one of the toughest arenas for visiting teams to get a win. The B’s will have an edge though as the Canadiens played last night in New Jersey and while they held on for a shootout win they will certainly be physically drained and spending the night travelling back home which could impact the outcome of this game. Carey Price is slated to start as he matches up against Tuukka Rask in what should be a very physical affair.

The Canadiens are playing as well as anybody right now and sport an 8-1-1 mark in their last 10 contests including last night’s win but you can be sure they had tonight’s contest on their minds the whole time. These two teams rank among the best rivalries in the NHL and regardless of standings or season juncture they always seem to get themselves fired up when they play each other. I am a little disappointed the schedule called for Montreal to be in New Jersey last night as a well rested bunch in Montreal would have made this one even more of a marquee matchup but with Petr Budaj getting the call last night it gives us a great show down between Price and Rask which should be the main focus of this game anyways. While the Canadiens are playing very well at the moment the one thing that stands out to me here is that the Bruins are the more physical team and are deeper offensively which will come into play when the goaltenders are basically a wash. I like the Bruins as the road team here and you’re getting an incredible price.
