The Line: New York Rangers -178 / Nashville Predators +162 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds

After Sunday night's 4-1 loss to the Washington Capitals the New York Rangers held a players only meeting to discuss what they need to do in order to win some hockey games. New York has lost the first two games of a season long nine game home stand and both of their performances were absolutely awful. After taking a 2-0 lead on Saturday night against the New Jersey Devils the Rangers completely stopped playing, failing to generate any offense at all and allowing the Devils to rally for an overtime win. Sunday night they came out flat and after the Capitals scored twice in a 25 second span in the beginning of the second period the team flat out quit. The Rangers gave about as little effort as possible in that hockey game and for a club that has prided itself on its work ethic the last several years it was a sad thing to watch. Henrik Lunqvist looks mediocre at best this season, Ryan Callahan invisible, and Rick Nash is still the overpaid sniper that doesn't provide much else when he's not scoring. The pieces are still there for this hockey club to turn things around but it starts with those three guys being able to elevate their game and in turn pick up the rest of the team. Tuesday would be a good place to start against a Nashville team that isn't very good themselves this year. The losing streak is now at five games for the Predators and the alarming part is the number of goals that this club is giving up. Throughout head coach Barry Trotz's tenure we've always seen a Predators club that limits opponents chances and places an emphasis on keeping the puck out of their net. Over their five game losing streak the Predators have allowed 19 goals. Being without Pekka Rinne has really crippled this team and there doesn't look to be an end in sight for them. With match ups against the Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks, and Chicago Blackhawks coming up the Predators better hope they can find a win against the Rangers or else they might have themselves a nine game losing streak. These are two bad teams who are playing boring hockey right now but one of them still has to win. New York has no business being a favorite of this number right now with the way they're playing so for that fact alone I'll go the other way on this one.
