The Avalanche and Jets meet up in Winnipeg as both teams look to improve their standing in the Western Conference.
The Avalanche have dropped back to back contests on their Western Canada road trip and finish things off in Winnipeg on Thursday looking to salvage something and come away with a win. The AVs started the season off as one of the game’s best teams and while they still have playoff potential I think they are starting to come back down to Earth a bit especially on the road. Colorado is still a dangerous team and should be treated as such as they are 20-9 on the season and are 10-4 away from home which is a very respectable mark and will have Semyon Varlamov playing in the crease as he attempts to rectify his off ice trouble with solid play on the ice. The Avs will have to solve Ondrej Pavelec in the Winnipeg crease who has played better of late but still can’t seem to get the goal support he needs to pull off a victory.

Ah, the daily battle of dealing with the Winnipeg Jets. As I have said time and time again this is a team that I think should be able to do a lot of damage in the playoffs but the only problem seems to be getting there. Winnipeg has a team built for success now as they have a lot of role players at both ends of the ice and have guys who have won Stanley Cups before and would love nothing more than to win another in Winnipeg. The Jets can’t seem to find any consistency in their game which reflects their 14-14-4 mark this season and a disappointing 7-7-3 record at the MTS Centre. For those of you that follow the hockey section on a regular basis you know that I have publicly stated my support for the Jets countless times and I have been burned by it on occasion but in this circumstance I am siding with the visitors as they are playing better hockey this season as a whole and are actually considered the underdog in this spot for some reason. Take a shot with the Avs.
