NHL Hockey: Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 7:00 pm (TD Garden)

The Line: Boston Bruins -242 / Calgary Flames +219 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds

After a four game road trip the Boston Bruins return home to the TD Garden to host the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. These two teams met last week in Calgary with the Bruins sleep walking through the first two periods and trailing 1-0 before turning things on and rallying for a 2-1 victory in the third. Boston followed that game up with another win over the Oilers in Edmonton but they were beaten up pretty good by the rival Canucks in Vancouver. Tuukka Rask surrendered four goals on 23 shots before being pulled in favor of Chad Johnson early in the third period. Reilly Smith scored a second period goal for the Bruins to tie the game at 1-1 before the Canucks scored five straight goals on their way to a 6-2 win. Nothing went right for Boston in this one but they ran into a Canucks club that is on an absolute roll right now. Boston will look to avoid a hangover when they return home against the Flames on Tuesday night. The Flames had won two straight games heading into Sunday night's meeting with the New York Rangers and they just let their third consecutive win slip away from them. Calgary jumped on the Rangers early, getting first period goals from Mikael Backlund and Curtis Glencross to take a 2-0 lead. But the Flames allowed a goal just 25 seconds to give New York life and the Rangers would eventually tie it in the second. Early in the third period Sean Monahan scored his 10th goal of the season to give the Flames a 3-2 lead but they were unable to hold on, surrendering the lead with under eight minutes to play. The game would go into the seventh round of the shootout before the Flames would finally fall. Karri Ramo made 29 saves in the 4-3 loss. Now the Flames have to travel to Boston and face the Bruins for the second time in a week. Calgary got lucky with a Boston team that wasn't ready to play but the Flames still couldn't take advantage and it ultimately cost them in the third. Now the Flames are heavy underdogs against a Bruins club that should be coming into this one pretty angry after the way they were humiliated in Vancouver.
