The Line: Chicago Blackhawks -231 / New Jersey Devils +209 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

The high flying, ever-exciting Chicago Blackhawks take on the New Jersey Devils on Monday night at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks are coming into Monday’s game with New Jersey off of a loss to Vancouver on Friday night. The 3-2 shootout loss was only the Hawks’ first blemish in its last seven games. The Chicago faithful need not worry as the Blackhawks have yet to drop back-to-back games this season.  Chicago boasts the number one scoring offense in the NHL posting 3.6 goals per game on average. The catalyst for Chicago’s offense has been MVP candidate Patrick Kane, who had a goal and an assist in Friday’s loss, which makes 23 points in his last 24 games. Kane will be looking to continue his point streak to 12 games against Net Jersey.

Another player who comes into Monday night with a hot stick is New Jersey’s Patrik Elias, who has ten points in his last nine games. Unfortunately, the rest of the Devils offense has been lackluster this season. The Devils average just 2.4 goals per game on the season, but have scored three or more goals in five of its last seven games.

The Blackhawks have covered the puck line in six of the last seven games. While I do think the puck line is worth some consideration, it should be noted that the Devils play the Hawks well historically.  The Devils are 11-3-1 in the last 15 meetings between these two, but the home team is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings. While the under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings between the two teams, Chicago is 5-0 in the last five games after scoring two goals or less in the previous contest. I think that Chicago will be clicking on all cylinders offensively at home, so I will take the over in this game.
