The Line: Anaheim Ducks +100 / San Jose Sharks -110 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds
The Sharks and Ducks square off at the Honda Center in a battle of Pacific division heavyweights.
The Sharks continue to be one of the best teams in the NHL and after they snapped the Ducks’ 10 game winning streak the last time these teams met they’ll be looking to trim the deficit for the divisional lead. San Jose is a battle tested team with a ton of veteran experience but also has one of the deepest teams in terms of talent and should very much be in the mix come playoff time. Antii Niemi continues to be one of the most underrated goalies in the league and with a Cup title on his resume with the Blackhawks he will look to bring the San Jose fans their first ever championship in franchise history. Joe Thornton has done nothing but win since coming over from Boston in what continues to be one of the most lopsided trades in league history but winning the whole thing still evades Thornton and the rest of the Sharks organization. San Jose took the last outing by a 3-1 mark at the Tank but they’ll look to be the first team to defeat the Ducks in regulation at home this year.

The Ducks have been the class of the Pacific division since the puck dropped in October and are just two points behind the Blackhawks for top spot in the NHL and they’ll look to make amends after a tough loss to San Jose on the weekend. Anaheim is a very deep team as well and have a lot of size up front especially in their top 6 but I think they will need to add another piece at the trade deadline if they want to compete with the Blackhawks and Bruins. The Ducks have had the luxury of three solid goaltenders and while one might be on the move before season’s end I think they will have an advantage over most teams when it comes to the battle in the crease. The Ducks did drop the last outing between these two and while they are playing at home here I don’t think much has changed. I think the Sharks are the better team and I need the Ducks to win this in order for me to take them as seriously as everyone else does.
