Pacific Division rivals square off when the Vancouver Canucks meet the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center on Wednesday night.
The Canucks come into Monday’s game losers of six of the last seven games, the most recent of which came at the Staples Center against the Los Angeles Kings. Despite the loss, Vancouver captain Henrik Sedin was quoted as saying it was one of the team’s best games this season. The Canucks were forced to play a more physical brand of hockey against the Kings, but Vancouver seemed up to the challenge. The game went into the third period with no score, but Eddie Lack would give up the eventual game winner early in the third as the Canucks lost by a final of 1-0. Lack made 19 saves in the game, and he has been strong in replacement of Roberto Luongo, who remains listed as day-to-day.

The Anaheim Ducks continue a tear that has catapulted them atop the NHL in terms of points. The Ducks have won seven straight and nine of the last ten games. The most recent win came against the Detroit Red Wings, who gave the Ducks all they could handle. Andrew Cogliano scored in the second period to make it 1-0, which would be all Jonas Hiller and the Ducks would need. The win is Hiller’s 14th consecutive victory and 23rd of the season.
These two teams just met on January 5th at the Honda Center, a game that the Ducks won 4-3 in overtime, which marked Anaheim’s second win of the season over the Canucks. Vancouver is now 1-4 in the last five meetings between these two clubs. During the hot streak, the Ducks have been winning most of the games in 60 minutes, and Anaheim is yet to lose a game in regulation at the Honda Center. Until the Ducks show me otherwise, I have to ride the train until the wheels fall off. I will look to play Anaheim in regulation at home.
