I tend to believe the officiating in the NHL is better then can be found in other sports but the call that cost the Kings a win in the final minute of a 3-2 shootout loss at Detroit has me thinking otherwise. The Red Wings trailed 2-1 when a shot hit the net and then bounced off the back of Jonathan Quick in to the net which is not allowed. The review verified the play which is not allowed but since this is not reviewable it was too bad for the Kings. Power play tallies from Jeff Carter and Mike Richards accounted for the Los Angeles scoring with Quick recording 33 saves.

Boston hopes to avoid what could be a full blown slump when the Kings visit in early afternoon action on Monday. The Bruins dropped a 3-2 shootout decision at Chicago which was their fourth defeat in six contests. Patrick Kane scored the game winner in the final round of the SO as both defenses tightened up after four goals were scored through the first two periods. The Bruins put plenty of rubber on Corey Crawford but the Blackhawks netminder stood tall with 34 saves. Brad Marchand was the visitors offense with goals in the first and second frames while Tuukka Rask stopped 35 shots.
This should be interesting with Boston being a very strong hoome team and the Kings an always capable road squad. I think Los Angeles is one of those teams worth a look as dogs, right or wrong...
