The Line: Detroit Red Wings -105 / Montreal Canadiens -105 --- Over/Under: 5 See the Latest Odds
Montreal and Detroit will square off Friday night for what will be the first of four meetings this season. Both teams could desperately use a victory right about now, as the Canadians have lost three of their last four and the Red Wings have lost three of their last five.
When neither team really has a clear advantage and they’ve both been struggling as of late, it’s always best to see if the over/under has any value. Well, we’re in luck this time around. Montreal and Detroit are both ranked in the bottom half of the league in goals scored, ranked 19th with an average of 2.5 goals per contest.

Detroit has been shutout twice in the last five games, while Montreal has only scored one goal in three of its last six. The goaltending, however, isn’t anything to write home about with Carey Price allowing at least three goals in four straight starts and Jonas Gustavsson allowing four goals in a victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
But this is a heated division matchup between two teams still fighting for respect in a tight Atlantic Division. Both teams could use a win right about to now to stay within striking distance of Boston and Tampa Bay. Such an important game usually means defense rules and every shot is so important. Well, when both teams have struggled to score, that statement holds true even more.
The under is 5-1-1 in Detroit’s last seven games and is 8-2-1 in its last 11 games against Eastern Conference competition. The under has also hit six times in the last nine meetings between these two teams.
Sit back and enjoy another low scoring game.
