Before Boston took the ice at Philadelphia on Saturday the worry was the team would be rusty after not playing since Monday. That turned out to be a non issue as the Bruins ripped the home team 6-1 in a complete performance at both ends of the ice. The reeling Flyers have now dropped seven of nine as they watched Boston storm to a pair of goals in each period. Zdeno Chara and Jarome Iginalia each scored twice with Patrice Bergeron and Reilly Smith also lighting the lamp. Tuuka Rask was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion with 25 stops to get the win.

The Islanders had an apparent game winning goal in overtime disallowed before falling to St Louis 4-3 in a shootout. Kevin Shattenkirk netted the winner in round three to send the home crowd away with a frown. New York appeared to be in line for the win before the Blues tied it with a mere 27 seconds remaining in regulation. Thomas Vanek, Matt Martin and Kyle Okposo provided a goal each for the NYI while Kevin Poulin recorded 32 saves in taking the loss. Vanek's waived off goal was reviewed and while his leg was moving when the puck hit his skate and in to the net it didn't look as if he had kicked it but at the end of the day the Isles dropped back to back contests.
When I look at this I see Boston hasn't always been at their best the past few weeks but they had a long break and seemed to have more energy versus Philadelphia. I don't think the price is too bad with the Bruins even though being on the road isn't ideal...
