The Winnipeg Jets invade PNC Arena to face the Carolina Hurricanes in Tuesday night action.
Winnipeg has gone from afterthought to to a team that you don't want to play after a 2-1 victory at Montreal was their fourth in five games. Some clutch scoring and even better goaltending carried the day with Al Montoya credited with 30 stops in the win including ten in the final frame. Tobias Enstrom gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at the 9:13 mark of the second with Michael Frolik lighting the lamp at just 1:04 of the third when he caught Carey Price out of position and made him pay. Price recorded 33 stops with Brian Gionta providing the lone goal in a game that was dominated by the respective netminders.

Surging Carolina scored a 3-1 decision over visiting St Louis to record their fifth victory in six contests. This came over a solid Blues squad who had won three in a row but saw their offense held to a David Backes first period tally with the man advantage. Jaroslav Halak was forced to shoulder the load on his own but his 28 save effort wasn't enough. Alexander Semin, Nathan Gerbe and Jeff Skinner provided the offense for the Hurricanes with a goal in each period. Anton Khudobin recorded 27 saves to pick up the victory as he continues to stand out after earning the First Star of the league's Three Stars after a 10-4-0 effort in January with a 2.18 GAA.
I don't see a ton of difference between these teams so I generally go with the better odds. I will look further in to this one so check back before face-off to see if I change things around...
