The Red Wings look to continue their chase of the Lightning in the Atlantic division when the two clubs meet up on Saturday.
The Red Wings have been as inconsistent as they come this season as the once feared Western Conference powers have struggled a bit making an adjustment to the Eastern Conference but at the moment they are on an upswing and will look to take down the Lightning in Tampa tonight. The Red Wings struggled mightily after their Winter Classic loss to the Maple Leafs on New Year`s Day as they couldn`t seem to find their bearings for a couple weeks but after shaking all the snow out of their helmets the Wings look as though they`re back as they`ve won their last two games and secured points in 8 of their last 10. Detroit will turn to Jimmy Howard before he heads to the Olympics next week and with a goaltending edge that favours Detroit if the Bolts are to start Cedric Desjardins it could be the third victory in a row for the red and white.

The Lightning have been one of the game`s biggest surprises this season as they were projected to finish in the bottom sector of the Atlantic division with a healthy Steven Stamkos but have been defying the odds all year without him and have a chance at taking down the Bruins for the division crown. Tampa Bay received news that Stamkos would not be back in action in this game as planned and as such he will not be able to represent Canada at the Olympics but it does give him a few more weeks to rest and be back for a playoff push in late February. However, the Bolts are likely without Ben Bishop here as the Vezina favourite is out with an upper body injury that has been nagging him for the last couple weeks and the youngster Desjardins is likely to step in. I expect this line will change once the confirmation of starting goaltenders is released but nonetheless we are getting a good team at a ridiculous price and I am all over the Red Wings in this spot.
