The Vancouver Canucks play host to the Minnesota Wild at Rogers Arena in Friday night action.
Minnesota made their first game back from the Olympic break a good one as they went to Edmonton and came away with a 3-0 victory. The Wild recorded goals in each period with Dany Heatly, Mikael Granlund and Stephane Veilleux doing the honors while Darcy Kuemper recorded 21 stops to pick up the victory with shutout number two of the season. It wasn't the way Edmonton wanted to begin their post Olympic break as Ben Scrivens was on his own with 18 stops. The Wild have now won three straight while Edmonton began a five game homestand with the loss.

Rust from the Olympic break combined with good defense and equally strong work between the pipes propelled Vancouver to a 1-0 victory over visiting St Louis Wednesday as both teams kicked off the second half of the season. Both netminders threw up zeros until Jannik Hansen found the back of the net at the 11:13 mark of the third and Eddie Luck made it hold up as he stopped 20 shots which also put an end to the Canucks season long seven game slide. The Blues still remained the top team in the Western Conference with Jaroslav Halak absorbing the defeat despite a stellar 34 save performance. The Blues dropped to 3-1-1 in their last five contest as the battle Chicago for supremacy in the West.
Minnesota has struggled in Vancouver, going 1-11 in the last 12 trips while the under is 5-0-1 in the past six meetings there and 3-1-2 in the past six overall. I need to confirm goalies here before finalizing but at first glance the Canucks home success in this match up is hard to ignore...
