In their first of three scheduled meetings this season, the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins will meet on the ice.
The Capitals head into this matchup winning four of their last five games, which includes a road win Thursday over the Florida Panthers. In that 5-4 win, they snapped a streak of 16 straight scoreless power play opportunities, scoring twice on both chances. The offense has been on fire over that stretch, scoring a combined 18 goals. Goalie Braden Holtby has also been a little more consistent as of late, allowing just six goals in his last three starts. The Capitals are 11-13-0-5 on the road this season.

The Bruins are coming off a tough overtime loss on Wednesday to the Buffalo Sabres. They have now split their last six games and have lost three straight that have gone into an overtime period. Still, their offense has been on fire as well, scoring a combined 20 goals in their last five games. Goalie Chad Johnson has gone seven of nine games where he’s allowed two or less goals. The Bruins are 23-60-2 on their home ice.
You’d be an absolute fool to bet against Boston at home. They’ve won five of their last six home games and are the best home team in hockey. Meanwhile, the Capitals have lost six of their last nine road games.
If that wasn’t enough to sway you in that direction, Boston is 10-1 in its last 11 games against the Metropolitan and 6-1 in its last seven games when its opponent has scored five or more goals in its previous matchup. Not to mention Washington has only won back-to-back road games twice all season.
Give me the dominant home team at a reasonable price.
