The Line: Columbus Blue Jackets / Florida Panthers --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The Florida Panthers take the ice at Nationwide Arena where the Columbus Blue Jackets await.

Florida was outscored 5-4 by Washington on Thursday as both teams returned from their three week hiatus. Apparently neither team had any rust offensively although the same could not be said for the defensive end of the ice. Alex Ovechkin tallied the game winner with less then five minutes remaining in regulation while Braden Holtby picked up the win with 30 stops as the Capitals won their third straight. Meanwhile the slumping Panthers fell for the sixth time in seven times out despite a pair of goals from Brad Boyles while Drew Shore and Tomas Fleishmann also found the back of the net. Tim Thomas took the defeat with a 27 stop effort.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Florida Panthers Pick-Odds-Prediction - 3/1/14

Russell LaBounty-USA TODAY Sport

If rust from the Sochi Olympics was a worry for New Jersey and Columbus in game number one of the second half it was quickly shaken off by the Devils who lit up the scoreboard three times in the opening frame on the way to a 5-2 rout of visiting Columbus. The Blue Jackets looked like the team that was trying to regroup from a long layoff as they gave up a pair of power play tallies in falling behind 3-0 before Artem Anisimov beat Cory Schneider to cut the deficit to 3-1. CBJ made it 3-2 when Marian Gaborik who hadn't played since before Christmas because of a broken collarbone scored at the 11:42 mark of the second but that was the last of the good news for the visitors. Sergei Bobvrosky stopped 30 shots as Columbus dropped number three in a row.

Florida is 0-4 in the last four visits to Columbus and 0-6 in the last six overall while the under has gone 5-0-1 in the past six meetings. The lines and goalies have yet to come out but neither team has been playing well but Columbus has shown more positives but we'll see if the line is playable when released...
