The Washington Capitals will play back-to-back road games when they travel to Boston to play the Bruins. This is the second of three scheduled meetings, as the Capitals won the earlier matchup just five days ago.
Since then, the Capitals have lost two straight, both losses to the Philadelphia Flyers. In those losses defense was optional, as they allowed a combined 11 goals. Washington went back to its old ways of giving up endless goals, a habit that appeared to have been broken over the last couple of weeks. Offensively, the Capitals have done a wonderful job of taking advantage of the power play, scoring seven power play goals in their last four games. Washington is 12-13-0-5 on the road this season.

The Bruins have won two in a row and three of their last five games. Their most recent win was Tuesday against the Florida Panthers, a game in which David Krejci produced a hat trick. Boston continues to score goals at a high percentage, racking up 32 goals in their last eight games. Defensively, goalie Chad Johnson has allowed two or less goals in four of his last five starts. Meanwhile, Tuukka Rask has given up 10 goals in his last three games. The Bruins are 24-7-0-2 at home this season.
Although Washington has won four of the last five meetings against Boston, it’s simply too tough to pick against the Bruins at home. They’re by far the better team in this matchup and are starting to put victories on the board with more consistency.
Boston is 11-2 in its last 13 games against the Metropolitan, while the Capitals are just 2-5 in their last seven games following zero days’ rest.
The price isn’t exactly cheap, but I’ll go ahead and back the better team on their home ice.
