The Los Angeles Kings head north of the border to square off with the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre.
Airtight defense and solid goaltending were the highlights of the Kings 2-1 decision over visiting Montreal on Monday. Jake Muzzin gave Los Angeles a 1-0 first period lead less then two minutes in before PK Subban knotted it at the 14:45 mark when his shot deflected off a few sticks and skates and in to the net. The game winner came off the stick of Jeff Carter with the man advantage in the second and Jonathan Quick did the rest while needing just 17 stops to get the win for the surging Kings who have suddenly won five in a row. Peter Budaj absobed the defeat in stopping 20-22 shots.

The struggling New York Islanders won't be making the postseason so their job is to make sure to make it difficult for any other team that has playoff aspirations. That was the script the team followed Tuesday when they picked up a 3-2 overtime victory at Winnipeg. Michael Grabner tallied the game winner with just over a minute remaining in the extra session while Colin McDonald and Anders Lee also scored for the Isles. Andrew Ladd scored both goals for the Jets whose bid for a third consecutive win fell short. Anders Nilsson won it with 36 stops while the loss went to Ondrej Pavelec who recorded 24 saves.
This is a tough one with the Jets playing so well for Paul Maurice and the Kings being 0-5 in their last five visits and 1-6 in the past seven in this match up but also riding five straight wins. I'll think about this as I wait for a line...
