The Phoenix Coyotes welcome the Boston Bruins to the Jobing.com Arena for Saturday night NHL action.
A solid first period was all the Coyotes needed to upend visiting Florida 2-1 on Thursday. The surging Yotes won seven of nine to hold on to the final playoff spot where they lead Dallas by four points. Antoine Vermette and Radim Vrabata supplied all the offense needed with first period tallies while Mike Smith stood tall in the nets with 22 stops for the victory. The Panthers finally got on the scoreboard with just over four minutes remaining in regulation on a Scott Gomez goal but never found the equalizer. Roberto Luongo was flawless since the opening frame but his 20 saves were not enough.

Boston has been almost machine like during their hot streak and not a thing changed in a 2-0 victory at Colorado on Friday for win number eleven in a row. Clutch scoring or airtight defense and goaltending have been key to the Bruins success as they get whatever they need at big points and are tough to deal with when both ends of the ice are on the same page. Carl Soderberg and Patrice Bergeron scored for Boston with Chad Johnson blanking the Avalanche with a 31 save effort as the Bruins clinched a spot in the playoffs. Semyon Varlamov was strong between the pipes for Colorado but his 26 stops was not enough.
The road team is 6-2 in the last eight meetings while the under has gone 7-1 in the last eight overall and 6-0 in the past six at Phoenix. All good things must come to an end and Boston will lose at some point and could here but I'm still going with the streak...
