The Rangers picked up a crucial two points with a 3-1 win at Columbus on Friday to move two points ahead of the Blue Jackets in the Metropolitan division. All the scoring took place in the final 20 minutes with Columbus taking a 1-0 lead on Nick Foligno lighting the lamp at 1:12 of the third. It was all dowwn hill from there with Derek Stepan and Derek Brassard gave New York a 2-1 lead with Carl Hagelin adding an empty net tally. Henrik Lundqvist got the win with 25 stops with Sergei Bobrovsky taking the loss despite a 29 stop performance.

The Islanders had nothing going for them when Minnesota showed up Tuesday and it showed on the scoreboard with the visitors taking a 6-0 decision. Anders Nilsson struggled between the pipes with all six goals given up on just 22 shots while five players tallied for the Wild. Matt Moulson led the offensive explosion with a pair of goals with Mikael Granlund, Justin Fontaine, Jared Spurgeon and Clayton Stoner also finding the back of the net. Ilya Bryzgalov picked up the win with 36 stops for shutout number two on the season.
