Nationwide Arena and the Columbus Blue Jackets await the arrival of the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday.
Detroit appeared poised to sweep their home and home series with Minnesota but a poor third period resulted in a 4-3 overtime loss to the visiting Wild. Matt Moulson scored the winner just over two minutes in to the extra session with Zach Parise, Charlie Coyle and Jason Pominville also lighting the lamp. Ilya Bryzgalov recorded just 13 saves to pick up the win. Detroit received a pair of goals from Gustav Nyquist with Tomas Tater scoring as well but Jimmy Howard's 21 stops could not save the Red Wings three game winning streak.

I thought like many others that if Columbus was going to participate in the postseason the a win ober the struggling Islanders was a necessity. I couldn't have been more wrong with the Islanders playing like a playoff hopeful in a 2-0 victory over the visiting Jackets on Sunday. The Blue Jackets generated plenty of opportu nities with 41 shots but Evgeni Nabakov stood tall between the pipes to record his third whitewash of 2013-14. Travis Harmonic and Cal Clutterbuck tallied to give the Isles all the offense they needed. An 0-6 performance with the man advantage was a killer and made Srgei Bobrovsky's 30 stops a losing effort.
The under is 5-0 in the last five meetings and while the Red Wings are 1-4 in the past five visits to Columbus they 55-24-1 in the last 80 meetings overall. Columbus is tough to nail down and Detroit has something of a different look to them so I'll look for an edge while waiting for goalie confirmations...
