The Anaheim Ducks and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday night.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound from a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Seattle Kraken in their last game. Troy Terry leads the Ducks in scoring with 42 points including a team-high 25 goals while Trevor Zegras has 33 points with 12 goals and 21 assists. Sonny Milano has 25 points while Ryan Getzlaf has 27 points this season with Getzlaf logging a team-high 24 assists on the year. John Gibson’s seen the bulk of the work in goal for Anaheim and is 15-11-8 with a 2.54 GAA and a .921 save percentage this season.
The Calgary Flames will hope to build on a 6-2 rout of the Columbus Blue Jackets in their last outing. Johnny Gaudreau leads the Flames in scoring with 60 points including a team-high 41 assists while Elias Lindholm has 43 points with 24 assists and 19 goals with Gaudreau posting a team-high +37 plus/minus rating while Lindholm has a +35 rating. Matthew Tkachuk has 22 goals and 29 assists for his 51 points while Andrew Mangiapane has 32 points and 24 goals of his own. Jacob Markstrom’s gone 20-10-5 with a 2.12 GAA and a .926 save percentage up to this point in the season in goal for Calgary.
Anaheim is 1-5 in their last 6 games as a road underdog and 0-8 in their last 8 games against the Western Conference while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Calgary is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 games after allowing two goals or less in their previous game while the over is 3-0-2 in their last 5 games played on no rest.
I get the case ot be made for the Ducks here, but Anaheim’s had struggles putting consistent performances together as of late and while I’m not a huge Calgary fan, there’s no denying how well the Flames are playing at the moment, especially at home where the knock was always that they’re a better road team than playing in front of their home crowd. I think we’re just looking at a spot where you back the better team playing better hockey and I’ll side with the Flames -1.5 here.
