The Montreal Canadians and Detroit Red Wings will play Thursday night for the third time this season. The Red Wings lead the season series 2-0.
The Canadians are one of the hotter hockey teams in the league right now, winning six of their last seven games. Montreal has gotten a big boost from its goaltenders, as the Canadians have allowed three or less goals in six straight games, which includes two shutouts. Offensively, the Canadians have scored at least one power play goal in five of their last seven games. Left wing Rene Bourque has two of his season’s six assists in his last three games. The Montreal Canadians are 20-14-1-1 on the road this season.

The Red Wings haven’t been so hot, losing two straight games and seven of 12 in the month of March. A lot of these struggles can be blamed on goalie Jimmy Howard, as he’s allowed three or more goals in seven of his last 10 starts. However, offense has also been an issue like it has for much of the season, as the Red Wings have scored two or less goals in five of their last nine games. Much like Montreal, Detroit is also a team taking advantage of the power play, scoring four power play goals in their last four games. The Detroit Red Wings are 15-11-5-5 at home.
The Canadiens are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. Atlantic and 6-2 in their last 8 vs. a team with a losing record. The Red Wings are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Atlantic and 5-2 in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Canadiens are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings vs. Detroit.
This seems like a good spot to take the Red Wings, as they desperately need to turn their season around. The Red Wings are at home and have beaten the Canadians in four of the last five meetings.
I’ll take Detroit at the cheap price.
