The Calgary Flames and the Scotiabank Saddledome host the New York Rangers Friday night.
The Rangers are locked in a battle with rival Philadelphia for second in the Metropolitan Division so their 3-1 victory over the visiting Flyers was huge as they stretched their lead to three points. Crucial is how I would term it because Philly has two games in hand but the Rangers won't have to worry about that if they continue to win as they logged victory number five in a row. Henrik Lundqvist led the way with 30 stops that saw his shutout disappear when Jakub Voracek scored with 1:53 left to play. Dominic Moore, Derek Dorcett and Ryan McDonagh tallied for the Rangers who have beaten the Flyers in eight straight in New York. Steve Mason recorded 26 stops for Philly who has dropped back to back contests.

Calgary was looking for their second straight home win versus powerhouse Anaheim in two weeks but they didn't come close to duplicating their 7-2 rout as the Ducks squeezed out a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night. The Flames tooka 2-1 lead in to the third before Andrew Cogliano and Mathieu Perreault gave the Ducks the win. Nick Bornino added a first period power play tally and Jonas Hiller posted 32 saves for the win to bring his team within two points of the Pacific Division lead. Brian McGrattan and Jiri Hudler scored for Calgary while Kari Ramo absorbed the loss with a 31 stop effort.
The home team is 5-2 in the last seven meetings while the under has gone 3-1-1 in the past five head to heads. The Rangers are hot but Calgary has been tough at home despite what their record. I will look in to this further and see who is in the nets...
