The Boston Bruins travel to the Verizon Center to tangle with the Washington Capitals Saturday.
Chicago's first trip to Boston after winning the Stanley Cup a season ago didn't go as planned with the visitors saddled with a 3-0 defeat. After seeing their hot streak snapped by Montreal in a shootout, the Bruins showed no ill effects with strong performances at both ends of the ice. Patrice Bergeron paced the offense with a pair of goals with Carl Soderberg also found the back of the net as the home team opened up late after nursing a 1-0 first period lead. It didn't matter what the lead was with Tuukka Rask between the pipes with his 28 saves for shutout number seven while Corey Crawford taking the loss with 20 stops.

Washington squandered a two goal lead in the final frame in dropping a 5-4 shootout decision to visiting Los Angeles on Tuesday. Alex Oveckin scored twice for the Capitals with former King Dustin Penner and Evgeny Kuznetsoz also lighting the lamp. Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter tallied in the SO to win it while Dustin Brown, Dwight King, Marian Gaborak and Mike Richards supplied the offense in regulation. Jaroslav Halsk was tagged with the loss despite 32 saves while Jonathan Quick picked up the win with a 23 stop performance to give Los Angeles their 7th straight victory over the Caps.
The home team is 4-1 in their last five meetings with the under going 27-12 in the past 39 match ups. Boston is 13-0-1 in their last 14 so I'm leaning their way but I need to see goalies and let's not forget Washington is desperate...
