The Dallas Stars travel to PNC Arena to take the ice with the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.
Dallas is trying to reach the postseason for the first time in six seasons and they have been playing with desperation after knocking off Washington 5-0 Tuesday on the road was their fifth win in six contests. Most important is the Stars are now tied for the second Wild Card with Phoenix thanks to a dominant effort versus the Capitals. Dustin Jeffrey paced the offense with a pair of goals with Ray Whitney, Tyler Seguin and Ryan Garbutt also lighting the lamp while Kari Lehtonen recorded his 4th shutout of the year with 35 stops. The loss went to Jaroslav Halak who was yanked after giving up three goals on 23 shots.

Beating Pittsburgh at the Consol Energy Center isn't something that happens every day but Carolina pulled off the feat in impressive fashion. The Canes outskated the Penguins at both ends of the ice in a 4-1 victory to go 2-0-2 in their last four outings. The Pens lone tally came off the stick of Chris Kunitz in the first with Marc-Andre Fleury taking the loss with all four goals allowed on 28 shots. Carolina received two goals from Elias Lindholm with Jeff Skinner and Justin Faulk also finding the back of the net. Anton Khudobin turned away 30 shots to pick up the victory which prevented the Penguins from wrapping up the Metropolitan Division.
The home team is 11-3-1 in the last 15 head to heads while Dallas is 4-0 in the past four meetings while the under has gone 5-2 in the last seven overall. Pending goalies I lean Dallas but I'll look in to it further...
