The Canadiens offense came off the stick of Brendan Gallagher in the first while Carey Price posted 30 stops in the loss which ended a five game winning streak.

The Senators didn't help their slim playoff hopes with Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at the hands of the visiting Islanders. Every point is crucial for this team as they trail Columbus for the second Wild Card with the season nearing an end. Milan Michalek scored the lone Ottawa goal and Craig Anderson stopped 25 shots as the Senators saw a three game win streak end. On the flipside, the Islanders have won three in a row with Josh Bailey lighting the lamp in the first with Casey Cizikas winning it with a power play tally nearly halfway through the final stanza. The win went to Anders Nilsson who was rock stead in the nets with a 35 save performance.
The home team is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings while Montreal is 1-6 in their last seven trips to Ottawa with the over going 5-1-1 in the last seven. The trends favor the Senators even though the Habs are the better team but no lines or goalies yet...
