The Line: New York Islanders / Washington Capitals --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The Washington Capitals and New York Islanders will play their fourth and final regular season meeting on Saturday afternoon. The Capitals lead the series 2-1.

The Capitals are trying their best to sneak into the playoffs with the season coming to an end, but five straight losses certainly aren’t helping. Washington must win this game to keep those playoff hopes alive. The Capitals have scored two or less goals in three of their last four games and aren’t getting consistent play from goaltender Jaroslav Halak, who has allowed three or more goals in three straight starts. Although the Capitals are a below average penalty killing team, they haven’t allowed a power play goal in three straight contests. The Washington Capitals are 14-16-0-7 on the road.

The Islanders are playing some of their best hockey of the season, winning five of their last six games, including three straight. Young goalie Anders Nilsson has really impressed as of late, allowing just one goal in three of his last five starts. Offensively, youngster Matt Donavan has proved himself lately, racking up one goal, two assists and three points in his last five games. The Islanders have scored three power play goals in their last eight power play trips and are 13-18-4-4 at home.

The Capitals are 2-5 in their last 7 road games and 1-6 in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference. The Islanders are 6-0 in their last 6 vs. a team with a losing record and 4-1 in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest. The Capitals are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in New York.

I like Washington in this spot. The Capitals need the win and simply can't keep losing to lesser opponents if a playoff berth is in sight. I like the Capitals at the cheap price on the road.
