The Montreal Canadiens head to the United Center to take the ice with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Montreal squandered a three goal lead before recovering to down the visiting Red Wings 5-3 on Saturday. Detroit trailed 3-0 in the third before Luke Glendening, Pavel Datsyuk and Niklas Kronwall tied it for the visitors. The euphoria was shortlived as the Canadiens regained control with a pair of late tallies by an offense that wasn't stopped the entire contest. When the smoke had cleared Brian Gionta had scored twice with Max Pacioretty, Alex Galchenyuk and Michael Bournival also finding the back of the net to make Carey Price and his 24 saves stand up. The Habs have won seven of eight and lead Tampa Bay by four points in the battle for second in the Atlantic. The surging Red Wings had won four in a row but Jonas Gustavsson's 21 stops fell short.

The Blackhawks shook off an early 1-0 deficit to upend St Louis 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. Chicago has now won three in a row and now trail Colorado by two points for second in the Central Division. The home team received goals from Patrick Sharp, Jeremy Morin, Marcus Kruger with Ben Smith adding an empty netter with just three ticks remaining. Corey Crawford picked up the victory with a 21 save performance that saddled St Louis with consecutive defeats. Vladimir Sobotka and Jaden Schwartz scoried for the Blues while Brian Elliott posted 31 stops for the top team in the Western Conference that is two points behind Boston for the President's Trophy.

The home team is 9-0 in the last nine while Montreal is 7-3 in the past ten meetings with the under going 4-1 in the past five. The trends would be more meaningful if these teams played each other more often. Don't know who the goalies are but will find out and dig more in to this...
