The Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning will play Thursday for the third and final time during the regular season. The Lightning have won the previous two matchups and will be going for the sweep.
The Flyers head into this matchup winners of two straight, but have lost six of their last nine games. The Flyers have already clinched a playoff spot, but would like to head into the postseason with a little more momentum. After scoring two or less goals in five of their last seven games, the Flyers have scored a combined 10 goals in their last two wins. Goalie Steve Mason continues to give the Flyers a chance to win games, as he’s allowed two or less goals in six of his last eight starts. The Philadelphia Flyers are 17-15-2-5 on the road this season.

The Lightning are also a team that would like to head into the playoffs on a bit of a run, as they’ve won four of their last seven games. Goalie Ben Bishop recently suffered an upper-body injury, but coach Jon Copper has no update on the goalies status as of late. That mean Anders Lindback will get the starts until further notice, and he’s allowed three or more goals in six of his last seven starts. Offensively, the Lightning have been held to two or less goals in four of their last five games. The Tampa Bay Lightning are 23-10-1-5 at home.
The Flyers are 0-6 in their last 6 vs. a team with a winning record and 10-4 in their last 14 games following a win. The Lightning are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference and 2-10 in their last 12 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Flyers are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings in Tampa Bay, while the home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
With the injury to Bishop, I like the Flyers to get their first win in Tampa Bay in forever. It’s just difficult to trust Linback with the way he’s played this season, and the Flyers have been on an offensive tear their last two games.
It’s worth taking a shot with the Flyers and the plus money.
