The Colorado Avalanche head to the Xcel Energy Center hoping to oust the Minnesota Wild in game six.
Colorado's late tally tied the score and an early score in overtime gave the Avalanche a 4-3 victory over visiting Minnesota and a 3-2 series lead on Saturday. The series heads back to the Xcel Energy Center where the Avs have a chance of closing out Minnesota and advancing to the next round. This one appeared to be a tight defensive struggle with a scoreless opening 20 minutes before the teams combined for three goals in the second and third.

With Semyon Varlamov on the bench for the extra attacker PA Pareteau netted the tying goal with 1:14 remaining for his first ever postseason tally. The Avs carried the momentum in to the extra session with Nathan MacKinnon potting the winner at the 3:27 off a pass from Gabriel Landeskog that found the right corner of the net. The Avalanche led 1-0 on Cody McLeod's shorthanded score in the second and 2-1 on Nick Holden's first career playoff goal while Varlamov finished with 29 stops. Minnesota received a second period goal from Matt Moulson with Kyle Brodziak and Zach Parise giving their team a 3-2 lead with third period tallies while Darcy Kuemper gave up all four goals on 35 shots.
I think most of the breaks in game five favored Colorado and they still need overtime to win it so Minnesota could be the team with the 3-2 series lead with a bit more luck. The Avs also scored late in the third with the goalie pulled in game one before winning in OT so the bounces have been fortuitous to say the least. The Wild at home are very tough and that's my initial lean as I wait for a line...
