The Anaheim Ducks host game number one of their second round series with the Los Angeles Kings.
The Kings rallied from 3 games down to San Jose to win four straight and advance to round to face Anaheim. This series was almost like two series in one with the Sharks looking dominant on offense in winning the first three before the Kings did an about face and could do no wrong in taking four in a row. The Kings were seemingly no match for San Jose who scored 21 goals in three games but turned the tables with an 18-4 edge over the final four. The key to the Kings comeback was Anze Kopitar who led the team with four goals and ten assists while also turning up the defensive intensity. Oddly defensive minded Los Angeles lit the lamp 29 times verus San Jose and that scoring could come in handy against an Anaheim squad that is no stranger to scoring.

Although Anaheim ousted first round opponent Dallas in six games it was a hard fought series that came down to the Stars inability to control the scoring of the Ducks. The proof is in the pudding with Dallas outscoring the Ducks 7-2 in their two wins and getting lit up top the tune of 18-11 in the losses. We know Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry will score but going forward the Ducks need goals from other sources and the options are plentiful on paper but need to do it on the ice. The offensively minded Ducks certainly didn't mind the back and forth pace we saw verus Dallas but sooner or later their defense and play between the pipes has to stand tall. Frederik Andersen was yanked in game six and his 3.40 GAA won't cut it down the road.
The Kings have turned things around with stellar goaltending and a better then average offense while Anaheim simply scored their way in to round two. Los Angeles knows they can't fall behind in this series and I lean Kings right now...
