The Minnesota Wild return home looking to slowdown the Chicago Blackhawks in game three.
The Blackhawks took a 2-0 series lead on the strength of a 4-1 victory over Minnesota at the United Center on Sunday. Chicago took a 2-0 lead with them in to the third before the Wild finally got on the scoreboard to give themselves a glimmer of hope but they never solved Corey Crawford again. Jonathan Toews scored in the opening frame when he tipped in a rebound at 11:02 while Brandon Saad scored the first of two goals on a wrister that beat Ilya Bryzgalov with only 56 seconds remaining in the second. That turned out to be big when Cody McCormick tallied just minutes in to the third. However Bryan Bickell restored the lead to two with another wrist shot with Brandon Saad adding an enpty net tally for the final margin. Marian Hossa dealt out three assists and Bickell added two more in the win to support the 18 save effort of Crawford. Bryzgalov allowed three goals on 21 shots in his second start with Darcy Kuemper sidelined with an injury.
USA TODAY Sports
The Blackhawks are red hot with six consecutive wins under their belt while Minnesota's struggles away from home ice continued with Sunday's defeat saddling the team with losses in ten of their last eleven road contests with the lone win coming at Colorado in the opening round. The Wild likely have to win game three or face the prospect of a 3-0 hole against a very tough foe. I don't think there is a key for Chicago in game three as they have been doing what it takes for six consecutive games. The Wild have been solid at home so that should provide some confidence but they still have to find a way to control the many offensive threats of Chicago who showed they could play some defense as well on Sunday. I'm leaning Blackhawks in game three but please check back when a line is released.
