The Rangers look to keep their season alive as they head into Pittsburgh facing a must win as they trail the series by a 3-1 mark.
The New York Rangers are on the brink of elimination for the second time in these playoffs however the circumstances are much different as they face a 3-1 series deficit and are heading to the road as opposed to a 3-3 tie with game seven being played at MSG. The Blue Shirts haven’t been able to find their form at all in this series as they barely scraped by with a game one series win and ever since then it has been all Pittsburgh and things don’t get any easier as they now take to the road in a do or die situation. Henrik Lundqvist has been the heart and soul of this team for years and while he deserves to reach hockey’s pinnacle the team playing in front of him hasn’t lived up to expectation and with the fall of Rick Nash being well documented it is tough to imagine they will fight back from this deficit. The Blue Shirts pulled to within a goal late in the third period in game four’s loss but gave it right back a minute later which sealed their fate and summed up how things have gone for them in this series and in these playoffs altogether.

The Penguins have had their struggles as well in these playoffs but they seem like a distant memory as they have been world beaters since game five of their series with Columbus and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been lights out. The Pens are one of the most dangerous teams in the league and now with the can of worms opening on Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby starting to get on the score sheet this is bad news for the rest of the Eastern Conference. The Pens have a solid blue line and now that their goaltending has stepped up I think the Pens will be a very tough out for either the Bruins or Canadiens especially with that grudge match slated to go the distance and take its toll on the participants. The Consol Energy Center is a very tough building to win in for the visitors and while their season is on the line and the Pens have been a bit soft this season I think they step up their game when it matters most and send the Rangers to a premature summer. Take the Pens to get it done in regulation.
