The red hot New York Rangers return to MSG looking for a 3-0 series lead over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
After knocking off Boston, Montreal was the odds on favorite in the eyes of many to brush aside the Rangers and advance to the Stanley Cup. That still could happen but the Canadiens will have to overcome a 2-0 series deficit without the services of Carey Price who injured his knee in the opener and will miss the remainder of the series. In order to accomplish this feat they will have to find a way to cool down a hot New York club that has won five in a row.

The Canadiens appeared poised to rebound from the drubbing they received in game one with a bit of good fortune as Henrik Lundqvist poked at a loose puck under the skates of Mats Zuccarello in an attempt to clear it in front of his net but the rubber instead deflected off his skates and in to the net with Max Pacioretty credited with the goal. The NYR responded 17 ticks later when Josh McDonagh's shot deflected off of Josh Gorges to even the score 1-1. Rick Nash lit the lamp when his one timer from the right wing gave the visitors a 2-1 advantage with only 62 seconds left in period one.
The much maligned Rangers power play led to a 3-1 edge when Martin St. Louis' slapper lit the lamp at the 8:03 mark of the second with the game turned over to Lundqvist at that point. The New York netminder didn't disappoint with 19 stops in the third alone and 40 overall. Dustin Tokarski got the call between the pipes for his postseason debut and recorded 27 saves. I'm waiting for the line to come out but I'm also waiting to see if the Habs stick with Tokarski or go with Peter Budaj. In either case the bottom line is they have to find a way to score on Lundqvist or it won't matter who is in goal. Please check back a few hours before faceoff for a pick...
